In This Space

By Drexel A. Chrestersen White

In this place.
In this place, I am, I am.

In this place, there is a peace.
A different peace, harmony.
Singular in its own.

Now, here we are.
We have become refreshed,
Someone new, a cause.
A reason.
A purpose of being.

In this space there are Todays
Sandwiched between so many Tomorrows
and golden Yesterdays.

Here now in this space
there is no They, Them, Other, just we.
This now is never to be repeated
nor memory made.

Because we’re lost to Now
there can be no Next or Before.
Just This,
Brilliantly
Ever-evolving
Seeding imagination
To a limitless capacity
Of self and community.

Meet the Poet – Drexel A. Chrestersen White

A writer & artist who views life through a more practical, maybe darker, prism. I live in Hamilton County’s North End on what was once a family farm. I’ve been writing almost since I could pick up a pencil. My work reflects heavy influence by Charles Baudelaire, Poe, and Dante’s Divine Comedy. Themes typically center on philosophy, spirituality, humanity’s internal battle of good vs. evil and gothic romance. I don’t subscribe to a standard poetic structure. Instead, I believe a conversation can convey truly great experiences. And many of the best don’t follow traditional conventions.
