Stranger and His Hammock Near the Riverbank

By Gwendolyn “Poetic Rebel” Hamilton

A stranger in his hammock
catching the breeze,
between two bare trees
with the anticipation of warmer weather
with a book to read.

Oh, how fulfilling it is to know
what nature in the park really means,
February 28  almost marks the ending of another winter chapter,
Spring is what this person is really after.

It won’t be long before the grills are lit,
hotdogs, hamburgers and all sorts of emotions
to gather is just a smidge of park memories to create,
family events, even a romantic date or just
a stranger and his book near the riverbank in his hammock
let’s you know that parks create magic.
