Concrete Jungle
By N’nako Kande’

Concrete Jungle
In a concrete jungle across the Tennessee River
Hide a small manmade marsh, set like a stage
Above on the right, a bridge stands like a balcony
Below, the concrete blocks turn into seats upholstered with grass
No matter what’s going on around it’s best to take a moment and observe in silence
Showtime!
Curtains are already rolled up because the marsh is always putting on a show.
The birds come and go like unpredictable actors with lines you could never memorize
Below, under the water, beyond what the eyes can see is the real behind the scenes nobody would ever be privy to.
Lumière!
Daylight, sunrise and sunshine are light technicians with skills that cannot be matched
The marsh furnished and decorated the stage in a way that is always harmonious no matter where everything springs forth
You know no designer could have done better.
It’s all so harmonious, all so intricate, and so delicately captivating
and it’s always worth a minute or an hour to sit and watch in silence what happens at this outdoor
amphitheater where birds, plants, amphibians and reptiles are in their habitats coexisting with passerby’s and runners turned into spectators and admirers.
Mesdames & Messieurs
This is your théâtre en plein air, the poetic amphitheater!
